why are comics expensive?

Ladies and Gentlemen;
                                         I have a question to ask?  Why are comic books so expensive these days?
I remember that comic books were about 25 cents to 50 cents and 1.25.  So why are they like 4.99?
                                         So what is the deal?  Is it because that the artist and writers want more money?  Or is there some conspiriacy?  Maybe?  I would love to hear from you guys on this subject and give a shout-out right here on my blog and maybe answer your questions.  Until check out my youtube channel at frank TV and if you are a Indy comic book company check out my videos on titled my comic book reviews and subscribe today thanks
